Release preparation

From a Suno song to a DistroKid-ready release, step by step.

To release a Suno song through DistroKid, first confirm your Suno plan allows commercial distribution for that song, then review lyrics, prepare cover art and complete metadata, keep a record of how the song was made, and upload it to DistroKid yourself. Artello organises each step into one package; it does not upload or publish for you.

Can you distribute Suno songs on DistroKid?

It depends on your Suno plan at the time the song was created. Suno's help centre explains which plans grant ownership and commercial-use rights, and how that applies to songs made on the free tier. Read the current policy directly rather than relying on a summary — including this one.

What should you check before uploading?

  • Plan and date: which Suno plan created each track, and when.
  • Lyrics: final text, explicit-content flag, no third-party lyrics you don't control.
  • Artist name: consistent spelling across every release and platform.
  • Cover art: square, high resolution, no unlicensed logos, faces or text that mismatches metadata.
  • Metadata: title, version, genre, language, songwriter credits and release date.
  • Evidence: prompts, edits and decisions saved alongside the track.

How does Artello help with this?

Album intake imports the songs you already made. Each track gets a review checklist, lyric pass, artwork workspace and a rights-evidence record. When everything is ready, Artello assembles a DistroKid-oriented package of files and metadata that you copy into DistroKid's upload form.

An optional assistant can help fill the signed-in DistroKid form with your prepared values, but you review every field and press submit yourself.

What Artello will not do

  • Upload, submit or publish to DistroKid or any store on your behalf.
  • Declare a song copyright-cleared or guarantee it will be accepted.
  • Promise streams, playlist placement or chart results.

How it works in Artello

  1. Confirm Suno plan rights for each track.
  2. Import the song, album or playlist into Album intake.
  3. Review and finalise lyrics.
  4. Create and approve square cover art.
  5. Complete metadata and credits.
  6. Export the package and upload to DistroKid yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Do I own songs I made on Suno's free plan?

Suno's policy on ownership differs by plan. Check Suno's distribution and ownership rights article for the current terms that apply to your songs.

Does Artello upload my song to DistroKid?

No. Artello prepares the package. You upload and submit through your own DistroKid account.

Is a rights record the same as copyright clearance?

No. Artello's evidence notes document how a song was made to support your own review. They are not legal advice or a guarantee.

Can I prepare a whole album at once?

Yes. Album intake handles multiple tracks and playlists, with shared artist and artwork context and per-track review.
